Liz Hamill Scott was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. After getting her English degree at local institution Stanford University, she pursued her love of dining and travel throughout the Golden State and beyond. Her exploits included everything from whitewater rafting on the Kaweah River to dining at the French Laundry. When a battle with chronic pain put an end to her rafting and camping trips, Liz discovered wine tasting and spa resorts. To this day, she’s not sure which style of vacation she likes better.
In 2008, she made the terrifying leap from overpaid high-tech employee to almost broke full-time freelance travel and food writer. Exploring the length and breadth of California for Moon Handbooks has given Liz the chance to fall in love with her home state all over again. You can read about her adventures in national magazines, Bay Area newspapers, and on the web at www.liz-scott.com.
Liz lives and writes, often chasing her cats away from her computer so she can get some work done, in San Jose.
